UK Government denies Holodomor was a Genocide
The British Government refuses to recognise the Holodomor as a genocide. You will find the research note they use to justify their stance here. However the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is withholding information about the drafting of the document on the grounds that it might damage relations with Ukraine.
We are publishing responses to the Government's research and encouraging people to write to David Miliband and ask him to ensure that the UK Government follows the lead of Australia and Canada in condemning the Holodomor as an act of genocide. His e mail address is:

holodomor.org.uk of course will not accept that starving people to death to destroy a nation is not genocide. A selection of the research that the government has ignored will be published on the site over the coming weeks and our letter writing campaign will be relaunched- further demonstrations will be organised under the RAGE over the coming months as we ask our government to display compassion and courage.
New Petition on PM's Website
Holodomor.org.uk is delighted that Canada has recognised the Holodomor as a Genocide. Last week saw the establishment of a Petition on the Prime Minister's website calling on Britain to show a similar bravery and tell the truth about the genocide famine - we urge visitors to the site to sign the petition:
The official report of the Prime Minister's Office on his May 14th Meeting with Yuschenko committed Britain to work with Ukraine to raise awareness of the Holodomor. We welcome the use of the word Holodomor but note that:
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office denies that Ukrainians were targetted and argues that the famine was a by product of economic policy - they deny that the Holodomor happened so how can they promote it?
In fact Stalin wrote to Kaganovich, his henchman, in August 1932 saying "we must do something or we will loose Ukraine". The borders of the Ukrainian republic and Ukrainian speaking areas of the Russian Republic were sealed and food was taken at gunpoint.
Holodomor.org .uk will not accept empty promises. We demand recognition of the Genocide famine. We note that the British Government's response is unworthy of the British people and a blot on the record of the government.
